Also called flatbed towing, a tilt tray carries your vehicle with all four wheels off the road. It’s the gentlest way to move low cars, all-wheel drives, automatics, prestige vehicles and anything that can’t roll on its own.
Fast tow request
A conventional tow truck lifts one end of the vehicle and drags the other on its wheels. That can be fine for some cars, but it puts load through the driveline and steering, and many manufacturers advise against it for all-wheel-drive and some automatic vehicles.
A tilt tray tilts and slides back to form a ramp. The vehicle is winched up onto a flat deck, wheels are strapped or chained to rated anchor points, and the tray levels out for the trip. Nothing touches the road, nothing turns, and there’s far less risk of scraping bumpers or side skirts on low cars.
All four wheels off the road
Winch loading for non-running vehicles
Wheel straps and rated tie-down points
Gentle approach angles for lowered cars
Suitable for AWD, 4WD and automatic vehicles
Ideal for damaged or partly dismantled cars

Questions
Yes — in Australia “tilt tray” is the common name for what’s called a flatbed in other countries. The deck tilts to load, then levels out for transport.

Often yes, as long as the steering and wheels aren’t locked in a way that stops loading. Let us know up front so we can plan for it.
